What is a Checking Account?

A checking account is a type of account you can open in addition to your share account. It provides quick access to your money through the use of checks and ATM cards.

Our checking accounts conveniently let you write checks or use your ATM card at any electronic point of sale location instead of carrying cash.

ATM cards also allow you to withdraw cash without fees at any MSECU ATM locations and a minimal fee at non-MSECU ATM location

With a variety of accounts to choose from you can choose the account that best fits you!


Basic Checking

Do you write just a few checks per month? If so, this “no minimum balance” and “no monthly service charge” account is for you! With a low “per check written” fee, this account is truly economical.

Requirements for Basic Checking Account:


18/65 Checking

Available to members 18 years old and under or 65 years old and over. No per check charge, no minimum balance, no monthly service charge, no charge for basic check order.

Interest Checking

Interest Checking from the Massachusetts State Employees Credit Union may be perfect for your checking account needs. With competitive interest rates and an optional debit card, this account offers a convenient way to manage your personal day-to-day finances.
